Jill Flower is a mixed-media/textile artist. Whose work is not only inspired by Shakespeare's description of ‘The Seven Ages of Man' from his play ‘As You like it', but also by edges and finishes, especially relating to lace.
She developed a unique method of disintegrating and reconstructing recycled papers to form the illusion of a delicate textile.
Using this technique, she produced the ‘Circle of Life' series, a fun and witty concept, following the progression of our reading interests, journeying from babyhood to retirement, for example school boys reading comics, and obituaries for very old
age!
Jill Flower, for many years was an Interior Designer, in 2004 she returned to college to further her interest in embroidery. Since Graduating in 2007 she was awarded a number of awards including the Embroiderers Guild Scholarship 2009-10. She has taught and exhibited both nationally and internationally and her work is in numerous private collections world wide.
