Ausbrenner & Lye crimping on new fabricsAusbrenner requires the use of a chemical paste to remove the cellulose fibres. With this paste you are going to create your own designs on special fabrics or scarves. After drying this paste needs to be activated by ironing and when finished washed to stop the process and to remove the thickener.
This technique creates beautiful transparent designs in your cloth!
The next step could be to dye your fabric: since the fabric is composed of two different fibres it would be possible to achieve also two different colours with e.g. Alter Ego of Dupont.
Designs can also be applied on top by means of stamping, stencelling and screenprinting or other techniques using other dyes or paints.
If you want to create more structure in your work, lye crimping could be applied to some of these (burn out) fabrics. This crimping method guarantees special and beautiful three-dimensional effects. The combination of lye crimping, dyeing, printing and burning out will give you the opportunity to create unique designs.
But pls be aware of all the chemical steps you have to take!
