EVOLON

Evolon® is an eco-friendly non woven material. Originally used in the medical world, it is strong, soft and breathable: a fabric that is suitable for many occasions on a daily basis. At the moment there are two types available, Evolon original and Evolon Soft, more types/thicknesses are planned for production such as 60, 130 and 170 gsm.

During this workshop we will use transfer paint and crayons to explore colour, texture and layering. Because of it's textured surface, Evolon® absorbs dye and ink easily.

We will create compositions using heat to transfer text and images from your own laser prints (prepared beforehand at home). Images can also be printed using the inkjet printer - those who wish to do this must bring their own images/designs on an USB stick to the class. (max. printable size A4)

We will also decorate the fabric with heat embossing transfer foils and embossing powders. Rubber stamps will be used in this process.

Evolon® is a great fabric for use with a textile soldering iron, details can be ‘drawn', motifs cut out, layers fused and edges decoratively finished.

The results of this workshop can be used in several textile projects, such as quiltmaking, embroidery and fashion.

Note: At the moment only Evolon Soft is available from Zijdelings

This workshop is suitable for all levels. Spoken language is Dutch, but Cherilyn is English born so translating is not a problem.
