Het effect is afhankelijk van het gebruikte materiaal (dunne soepele stof of dikke stof) en de tekening.

De puffpasta is na verhitting meestal wit en dekkend. Je kunt de pasta echter zelf kleuren met textielverf of acrylverf, dan krijg je een resultaat zonder diepe kleuren. Je kunt ook voor de voorgekleurde puffpasta kiezen. Deze is verkrijgbaar in potjes of tubes en geeft een diepere kleur als resultaat. Ook na verhitting kun je de puffpasta nog kleuren. Je kunt ermee schilderen, sponsen, rollen met reliëfrollers, de frottage-techniek toepassen, printen en zeefdrukken met behulp van de thermofax screens.

Maar puffpasta leent zich wonderwel tot experimenteren, zoals:

- rakelen met een open zeefdrukraam
- de puffpasta aanbrengen op tyvek en/of evolon
- gelaagd werken door transparante stoffen te bedrukken.

Gil heeft weer veel voor u uitgewerkt en brengt de nodige voorbeelden mee ter inspiratie. Naar keuze werkt u sample size of maakt u een groter werkstuk.

Er wordt gewerkt vanuit het platte vlak om vrijstaande vormen te verkrijgen.

Aandacht wordt besteed aan het maken van kunstenaars boeken en ruimtelijke constructies waarbij gelaagdheid en transparantie een belangrijke rol spelen.

Allerlei papiersoorten kunnen gebruikt worden om constructies te maken, b.v. papier met toevoegingen, servetten en tissuetex. Verder kunnen "gerecyclede" papiertjes zoals theezakjes, oude correspondentie(zoals brieven) en documenten gebruikt worden.

Een ruimtelijke vorm kan worden gegeven aan natuurlijke stoffen zoals zijde en katoen wanneer ze behandeld worden met encaustic medium.
Piecing, bewerking van de oppervlakte en toevoeging van mixed media behoren ook tot de mogelijkheden

Encaustic medium werkt als bindmiddel, maar constructies kunnen ook van tevoren met de naaimachine of met de hand in elkaar gezet worden. Verdwijnvlies kan daarbij gebruikt worden als hulpmiddel.

Deelnemers wordt gevraagd om een thema voor te bereiden zodat tijdens de workshop ieder zijn eigen unieke werkstukken kan realiseren.

Deze workshop is een vervolg op de eerder gegeven encaustic workshop maar kan evt. ook los daarvan worden gevolgd.

Doel van deze workshop is daarnaast het verder ontwikkelen van de toepassingen die mogelijk zijn met dit apparaat. Er kan gewerkt worden met natuurlijke materialen, maar ook met synthetische stoffen, polyester vilt en vezels.Zo kunnen prachtige resultaten worden verkregen door de werkstukken o.a. verder te bewerken door middel van verhitten, stikken, verven enz.  

Annette zal uitgebreid aandacht besteden aan toepassingen binnen kleding, accessoires en quilts. Ook in haar eigen werk speelt de punchmachine een belangrijke rol. U zult zeker geïnspireerd worden door haar prachtige voorbeelden.

NB: Deelnemers dienen hun eigen punchmachine mee te brengen of evt. aan te schaffen.

Compositie is in de beeldende kunst het ordenen van beeldelementen volgens een vooraf bepaalde strategie; het is een poging tot het creëren van orde in de chaos.

Aan de hand van een PowerPoint presentatie gaan we kijken naar voorbeelden in de beeldende en textielkunst om te zien hoe anderen de regels toepassen en problemen oplossen.

Verder worden oefeningen uitgevoerd in papier en stof; papier collages worden gemaakt evenals proefjes op stof met gebruik van eenvoudige druktechnieken.

NB: Deelnemers wordt gevraagd van te voren een thema te kiezen om te gebruiken als uitgangspunt voor hun werk tijdens de les. Dus kom voorbereid.

Participants learn to use the silk screen in a non-traditional, exciting, improvisational manner. Using everyday, easily accessible low relief texture materials, like lace, plastic packaging, leaves and grasses, techniques are explored to create a suite of silk screened mono prints on fabric using fabric paints and acrylic print paste.

The printed images have a lovely organic quality and lend themselves to interesting colour combinations which can add further interest to the textural quality of the printed works. These low relief mono prints are rich in colour, texture, organic impressions and pattern.

For those who love colour and experimental image creation this class is for you !

An intriguing mix of secrets and chemistry

On the first day of this intensive workshop students will learn how to make quick organic (natural)  indigo vats and resists for white patterns on a blue background.

The preparation of organic indigo vats is easy:
Students will be taught how to start and how to keep and maintain their vat for a long time.
Different and simple recipes will be offered and explained. All kinds of natural fibers will be dyed in these vats, so students can play and experiment.
A very creative method to realize white patterns on a blue background will be presented.  First of all, we will prepare a special resist paste, by mixing together clay, gum and magnesium salt. This paste will be applied on a white fabric.
Dry your fabric and dye it in your indigo vat. Then, by rinsing the so treated piece with ordinary water from the tap, the resist is easily cleaned, and the white designs appear on a blue background

On the second day students learn how to use mordants for printing and make a sampler with various mordants within one piece of fabric in order to test any kind of dyestuff.

On the third and last day the following techniques and possibilities will be dealt with:
> Printing with blocks/ printing with silkscreen
> Polychromatic effects on cotton, using Indigo together with the mordant processes

This class is for advanced level - not for beginners.
