Folding KnitsA second experimental workshop, related to the Exhibition ‘Knitted Worlds' which will be held at the AUDAX Textile Museum in Tilburg from 14 March till 14 June 2009, and led by Karin Marseille - textile artist and designer - who's work will be presented in this show as well.
During this workshop we will use special knitted fabrics - prefabricated by Karin herself- mainly made from special coated copper wire, but also the woollen thread will not be forgotten. Students will distort and manipulate these knits by hand by cutting, folding, rolling etc. into 3D objects.
Also 2D applications will be made using various other wires such as silver wire, steel and rope etc.: resulting in a research how to develop new wire structures or ‘threads' suitable to re use and knit again by hand.
Finally the results and applications will be discussed and examined: will it become a piece of jewelry or a sculpture, or something completely different.
Suitable for all levels.
