Monoprint:

Print from Painted Surface & Gelatin Plate with Linda Colsh

Paint or roll designs onto one surface, alter, print on cloth or paper in this surface design technique class. This workshop teaches basic monoprint and the monoprint variation in which the printing plate is made of gelatin. Students will begin with easy painting on a plain surface and then printing onto plain fabric or paper. Designs will then be altered with various common & special tools. Then, using a special gelatin plate supplied by the instructor, students will explore the unique properties and special possibilities of this type of monoprint: fine texture and extreme detail. Class discussion will cover combining monoprints with other techniques for complex layered cloth.
