Leentje van Hengel (NL)

Leentje van Hengel is the owner of Tinctoria.

The studio annex shop of natural dyes was started in 1991 in the old centre of Amsterdam. Tinctoria is known for making the recipe so good that the colours are as durable as the best synthetic dyes. Boutique products are manufactured and sold, and special commissions are dyed for designers.

For many years Claudy Jongstra depended on Tinctoria. Currently Thomas Eyck products designed by Christien Meinderstma are dyed there.

Leentje was born in Amsterdam, and graduated
from WSCAD with a BAHonours in Printed Textiles, followed by
10 years of designing textile patterns (free-lance)
From 2007-2010 Leentje also directed Forale, a small industrial workshop for natural dyed textiles in Zutphen.
