The emphasis in this workshop is on the use of synthetic fabrics.
We start with dyeing sheer polyester fabrics, such as voile, crêpe de chine, chiffon, organza etc. with the new POLY iDye .
This is a special dye stuff - packed in a watersoluble sachet - which can be put directly in a washing machine or stove pot.
The next step is to transform or distort the synthetic fabrics. We are going to create permanent structures by heat setting the polyester with an iron or with a heatpress. Colour can also be added by means of transfer printing using special sublimation inks/pigments and/or transfer crayons. These transfer paints can be used for painting or printing and will be combined with the manipulation of the polyester fabrics.
The final touch is laminating. The fabric will be coated with a special thin breathable layer of POLYFILM, resulting in a different look and new characteristics.
This workshop is to be considered an experimental session which will bring you lots of new possibilities to create colour and texture on synthetic fabrics.
