SDA Europe Conference

The Surface Design Association (SDA), a non-profit organization since 1977, is dedicated to raising the level of excellence in surface design -- the coloring, patterning, and structuring of fiber and fabric -- by inspiring creativity and encouraging innovation through publications, exhibitions, conferences, and educational opportunities.  The nearly 4000 members include artists, designers, educators, curators, gallery owners, students, and textile enthusiasts from around the world.

New members are invited to join at http://www.surfacedesign.org

On 23 and 24 October 2009 a first Conference will be held in Tilburg, especially for European Members of the SDA. This gathering has been set up by Karina van Vught, SDA Representative for Europe. Aim of the conference is to allow members to meet in person and to stimulate networking within a SDA setting. Of course all other non European members are welcome to join as well. In order to make attending more worthwhile two pre-conference workshops have been added to the programme.

All European members (also not attending members) are requested to send Karina a sample of their recent work to start a European Fabric Swatch Library. Size of the swatch should be 12x12 inch (30x30cm) and must be labeled at the backside with full details i.e. name and address plus technique used. The swatches should arrive before October 1, 2009. This library will be sent to the US and included in the already existing library when the conference is over.
